Design Thinking

YMCA free programs

I'm trying to wrap my head around a new project - fundraising for free programs at the YMCA Southeast: Livestrong and Safety around Water.

I still have to continue with my user research for the entire project, but my design strategy for the landing page is set. I know who my main users are, and how I want them to feel about the landing page. I tested some of my layout ideas with quick sketching. I'm also done with the wireframing stage. Now, I just need to test my prototypes. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until the fundraising stops and after we agree about the new donation form.

Health Harmony Ltd

This mobile app was developed for patients with accute and chronic health conditions. Patients use the application to record their vitals, while doctors use it to monitor their patients.

This was our attempt to re-design the app, so it can fit the needs of our special clients.

Our clients wanted to limit the number of ER and hospital visits, and improve health outcomes for their patients.

ChildSafe

This responsive Web application was developed for child care emergency plans and designed for three types of users: kindergarten workers, emergency management, and state administrators.

Besides helping users accomplish their goals, I had to take into account that each group performs its work under occupation related stress.

All of them experienced frustration when dealing with IT solutions and professionals.

Care Innovations (September 2017 - October 2018)

User Experience Designer

I worked on a variety of new projects and new features that helped users measure their vitals and monitor their overall health.

Design Thinking Report

While I shared wireframes, prototypes and design specs easily with Adobe XD, I could never effectively share all of my work with the team. My work was fragmented because I used Microsoft Word to record research findings and to create other UX deliverables.

After unsuccessful search for a suitable software, I realized that we could probably develop a Web app that would fit our exact needs. In order for the team to understand the issue, I needed to come up with an example. And since we all needed the final approval from the management, I decided to create a presentable report. I used InDesign to create the report.

Style Guide

During heuristic evaluation of our Web app, I identified the following usability issues: a lack of consistency and standards, mismatch between our system and the real world, and a lack of user control and freedom.

So I set out to create a style guide. Since our developers used Bootstrap for front-end, I incorporated Bootstrap components with our brand guidelines. In addition, I had to adjust our brand guidelines to accessibility standards. Just like any style guide, this one is a work in progress, but also a great beggining.

Uzuktam Bakim

According to the Aging Health, falls are the leading cause of injury among elderly Turks, and most of them happen when elderly are alone at home. Their family members wanted a solution that would help them track their movements and whereabouts throughout the day despite the distance.

This is an interactive prototype of a fall detection feature for Uzuktam Bakim, a mobile app that would harness the power of smart sensors to help families care for their elderly. The fall detection was only one feature of this mobile app. I had to follow the branding guidelines of our Turkish client.

iHealth BP Monitor

Health Harmony helps users measure their vitals, including blood pressure with various blood pressure monitors. This was not a new feature, but a re-design of an old feature.

In this case, we wanted to give our users more control and automation. This is an interactive prototype that guides new patients step by step, and also gives control to the patients who are familiar with the user flow.

Patient Dashboard

Some of our clients wanted more features that would help them identify patients who need help the most. This led to developing a risk score, which would identify patients who need the immediate care.

I developed a Triage page where patients were lined up from most at risk to least at risk, but that didn't solve the problem entirely because medical professionals needed to drill into each individual record in order to find out about a patient's diagnosis, treatment and history. The result is a dashboard that you see on the thumbnail. This thumbnail leads to an interactive prototype that basically includes the most important details medical professionals need to know in order to help their patients.

Diabeto Birdie

Health Harmony helps users measure their vitals, including blood sugar with various glucometers. This was a new feature for a device that transfers data from glucometers to the database.

In this case, home patients needed a step by step guidance for transferring data. This is an interactive prototype that helps patients transfer their data, but also gives them an overview of their daily, weekly and monthly blood sugar readings.

E-COMMERCE SITES: What do users expect?

Users spend most of their time on other sites. This means that users prefer your site to work the same way as all the other sites they already know. Design for patterns already learned by users. Period.

Jakob's Law

Expectations of users changed

Over the years, users acquired a new type of behavior and higher expectations of customer experience related to e-commerce sites and online shopping, according to the research by Nielsen Norman. They expect: convenience, speed, assurance, accuracy, options and seamless experience.
